A new water pump is part of the regular 100,000 km service on most non performance cars. A turbo engine that sees higher temps like the N54 will cook water pumps quicker. my average temp is 110+, 120+ if im on it. Getting close to 70,000 kms now so ill keep an eye out for the temp rising. The only gauge that indicates engine temperature is the tachometer. The white lines that you get before the red zone move depending on engine temperature. When the cold the white lines start around 4500 rpm with the red line at about 7000 rpm. When hot the white lines move to around 6500 rpm. This obviously gives you an indication of a rev BMW N53 engine problems: The N53 engine debuted in 2006 as an option in the facelifted BMW E60 5 Series. It was the successor to the very popular BMW N52 engine and was produced from 2006 to 2013. Funny you should ask. I *just* checked this last night and this morning. On regular surface streets, mine stayed pretty consistently around 93C. It would creep up to 94-95 if I'm at a stop light for a longer time. Of course, my temp might be a little higher than normal but up to 98C should be normal operating temp.

The fan is also at full speed upon start up of the vehicle. Please be advised that my AC IS NOT ON, and that I'm only driving in 50-60 degree weather.
BMW overheating symptoms. The engine temperature gauge on the dashboard reads higher than normal. The engine temperature warning light comes on. Steam or coolant is coming out from under the hood. The engine is making unusual noises, such as knocking or hissing. The car is running poorly, with a lack of power or rough idling. Check your coolant level. As a water temp sensor it is located in the side of the cylinder heads. As an oil temperature sensor it is located in the side of the oil filter stand at the front of the engine.
iTrader: ( 0) Diagnosing: Thermostat vs. Coolant Temp Sensor. I bought a 2016 X5 35i with ~75k miles roughly a month ago. I had pre purchase inspection done at the dealer, the bmw master tech showed me the Control unit tree which was all green at the time, no issues. Driving yesterday I noticed my engine temp remain at the lowest setting
RWD-F10-N52 · #27 · Apr 4, 2017. 250f is very hot. bmws run hot for emissions purposes and better fuel economy. these temps accelerate the wear of your gaskets and likely the reason why they always fail. I recommend running a 5w40 weight and removing your plastic engine cover to deal with the temps. Reply.
outside temp and vent temp, given that temperatures are reasonably moderate outside (80-90 degrees F). Numbers: 78 - 40 = 38 degrees F So neither car was ideal, but the BMW at 46 degrees was clearly not blowing cool enough, while the Toy certainly felt decent.
